PLLUSH ORTEGA

Taken from their upcoming album Stranger to the Pain, San Francisco outfit Pllush’s newest single ‘Ortega’ captures that feeling of teenage angst that most of us would happily forget. Fuzzed-out bass and pounding drums dominate the spoken-word verses as singer/guitarist Eva Treadways painstakingly relives a selection of memories from when she was 19. The earmworm of a chorus has a lighter feel driven by the poppy hook, 'But it’s a true word under a harsh light / And it’s a new world clenching my hands tight'. Gritty guitar strums chug relentlessly beneath Treadways' airy harmonies, striking just the right balance between clean and dirty. Stranger To The Pain comes out the 8th of June via Father/Daughter Records. -Holly Mullineaux
